Centre de Formation Professionnelle Technique | CFPT – Random Dice Simulator

This compact electronic module is a random dice simulator. It's powered by a 3-volt CR2032 button-cell battery and features seven red LEDs arranged to display the different faces of a die. Its operation is controlled by an integrated circuit visible on the board, which randomly lights the LEDs to simulate the roll of a die.

Soroban Genève ↗ | Discovering the Soroban and Anzan

Category : Mathematics

The Soroban is a Japanese abacus used to learn calculation in a visual, concrete, and progressive way. The method starts with handling the beads to represent numbers and better understand how calculation works. With practice, users gradually learn to visualise the abacus in their mind and perform calculations mentally, without any physical support. This method, known as Anzan, builds concentration, visual memory, logic, and calculation speed. Participants will discover how the Soroban works, complete their first calculations, and take on fun speed and concentration challenges.

The University of Geneva's Genève Evasions mathématiques runs a Girls and Maths programme, including girls-only activities such as the Marmottes and mini-Marmottes camps, as well as the Girls and Maths Circle. Participants from these activities, aged 14 to 19, will be around to tell you about what they do there, answer your questions, and share some maths they genuinely enjoy!

Plastic Free Campus (Gallifrey Foundation) ↗ | Schools and students taking a more active stand? It’s possible!

Plastic Free Campus gives students the tools to take action: forming their own eco-team, auditing single-use plastic in their school, and launching concrete initiatives to reduce it by bringing the entire school. From workshops and zero-plastic events to step-by-step guidance, everything is in place to support them. By becoming PFC ambassadors, their impact extends beyond school walls, inspiring their community. At the PFC booth during the Discovery Fair, they will discover practical ideas and inspiring examples to help them get started and choose their own way to get involved.
